So after a long year...

Of working tons of overtime... and countless weekends our company has thanked us today by announcing that there would be absolutely no pay rises and no bonuses. Such a nice thing don't you think? Good life lesson. Don't give up life for work as work will kick you in the ass and not ever even acknowledge the hurt. I'm so sad for my whole team as I was not alone in this mamoth effort. I feel sorry for all the time I lost with my family with the hope that it would all be for a bit more cash that would make life a bit easier. Not so. You cannot turn back time and you certainly cannot make up for lost time with loved ones and littles ones in specific. Shame on me. Shame on them... It's a sad day.

I'm still doing my best to muster all the positive energy I can for this year as last just very nearly took all hope from me. But after a day like this it's a real struggle.

Hang in there! Take in your surroundings and remember that someone somewhere would love to be in your shoes.

I'm so sorry to hear that about your team... :-( It's rough but still gotta keep a positive attitude. You are a good example Sarah!! I always love it when I see your smilin'/happy profile photo! :-)

:(( Same thing happened to me!!! I always say though you work to live and not the other way around.... of course it's a better theory than reality... :)

I know exactly what you mean. They haven't given us pay raises or bonuses for three years, and have already said they won't even consider them until 2012. It really does a number on how one feels about overtime. I know I have been reducing the hours that I give them on my weekends too.
I think somewhere, somehow, some company needs to be the first to give at least cost-of-living wages to their employees.

Well all in all it's not so bad I live in a nice city and I have a schedule that lets me work 8-16h... For that I am thankful... don't get me wrong I know first hand how lucky I am to even have a job! But working overtime and weekends anymore... not going to happen!!!!
